Position Purpose
The Highway Construction Trades Instructor will facilitate classes that will teach basic skills and provide preliminary knowledge for working in highway construction. This knowledge will include the operation of heavy equipment, safety requirements, and understanding of laws/regulations pertaining to highway construction, among other things.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- A candidate for this position must have education/certification in a relevant field such as civil engineering, etc., or comparable years of experience working in the field of highway construction.
- Supervisory experience and/or instructional experience in a classroom setting is highly preferred.
- Year of experience teaching in a general education setting may compensate for a lack of experience in the field of highway construction.
- The Highway Construction Trades Instructor must possess the skills to work with a student population spanning all ages and genders.

Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional construction experience working with all elements of heavy/highway construction.
- Certified in OHSA 10 within 6 month of hire. (Training provided on-site)
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory position managing work crews and/or construction site.
- Teaching experience in a general classroom setting may be considered in lieu of highway construction experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4-year degree in a field related to engineering
- Instructional experience in a classroom setting.
